Trouble getting started? Here's a brief overview of  the 3 basic types of wood flooring construction to help you decide which one is just right for you.

• The feel of Natural/real wood.  Ahhh...
• Susceptible to moisture damage; not recommended for bathroom installations.
  (Engineered hardwood floors have multi-layer cross-grained construction which means less expansion or contraction and floors are less affected by changes in humidity.)
• Adds value to your home.
• May scratch or dent from household mishaps.
• Hardwood floors do fade over time. If you have an area rug in a room bathed in sunlight, you might be surprised to find that the floor under the rug is a darker color.
• Coordinates with any décor.
• Hardwood floors are refinishable and can be restored close to their original splendor. Engineered hardwood floors can also be refinished; they may be prefessionally sanded up to two times.
• Professional installation is definitely recommended.
• Cost of product & installation.
• Depending on your point of view, having a floor that is permanent can be a plus or a minus. Most often the permanency of wood is seen as a bonus because if you want to change the look of the room you can use area rugs, or even cover with carpeting, and the floor remains undamaged.
